Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans
Association

"It's isn't the cost of belonging; it's the price you paid to be eligible."

From the President

2009

With the passing of our 2008 President, Bob Evans on June 18, 2009, I am assuming the Presidency of the Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans Organization.

Bob was enthusiastic about keeping the GCV going until, as he put it, "The Last Man Standing". I, too, want to keep going as long as ever we can. This is a wonderful Group, which has done a lot of good for a lot of veterans & families.

I do not have a computer now, but plan to have one in a couple of weeks. And I will e-mail all those with e-mail addresses. If anyone wishes to have any information from me, please drop me a line and I will be glad to answer all inquiries.

I want to thank Mary Morgan and Carmen Driscoll for their help in getting me started.

I have been in touch with Treasurer Charles Farmer, and he and his lovely wife, Gladys have assured me that everything is a "go" for the convention in Louisville, Kentucky this September 8-13. So, get your reservations in as soon as possible and don't forget to keep your dues current. Charles will give all the details in the next Echoes.
