Robert "Bob" James Evans, Sr.
June 3, 1920 - June 18, 2009
Robert James Evans, Sr., 89, of Magazine, Arkansas died June 18, 2009.
He was born to James Nash and Lula Blankenship Evans in Bradshaw, West
Virginia. He fought in World War II Guadalcanal Campaign in the Pacific
Islands and retired from the US 1st Marine Division with a rank of
CWO-4. Bob was a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW, DAV and
the Retired Officers Association. He was serving as the current
president of the Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans. He was the originator of
the Arkansas River Valley Pro-Am Golf Association and the Evans Museum.
He developed, owned and operated the Meadowbrook Country Club golf
course and was a real estate broker. Bob was preceded in death by his
parents, two brothers and his daughter, Renee Presley.
He is survived by his wife, Conny Evans of Magazine; one daughter,
Yvonne Maring of Rockwall, Texas; two sons, Robert James “Jimmy” Evans,
Jr. and wife Paulette, Wayne Evans and wife Lan all of Rockwall, Texas;
two step-sons, Marc Reed of Booneville, Christopher Reed of Phoenix,
Arizona; a sister, Lois Sallee and husband Jim of Glendale, Ohio;
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Wes Powell, Carl Powell, Kenny Sanderson, Mike
Thompson, Marc Reed and Brad Petz.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the
Booneville Funeral Service chapel with burial at the Robert Evans
Cemetery near Magazine under the direction of Booneville Funeral Service
of Booneville. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009 at Booneville
Funeral Service of Booneville.

Major Warren Frederick Martin Clemens
Born 17th April 1915 Aberdeen, Scotland
Died peacefully 31st May 2009
Major Martin Clemens was an official of the British government, which owned Guadalcanal at the time of the war with Japan. When the Japanese landed on the canal Martin and some native scouts took to the hills and reported to the Australians and US what the Japanese were doing. After our landing he and his native scouts assisted the Marines to no end. He received several awards from the British government.
Major Clemens was an honorary member of the Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans.
